Starlink Mount for Promaster Door

We carry a starlink (the dish stores nicely with the flat part against the wall under the couch (drivers side)). When deploying, a few times we’ve wished we could get it off the ground - especially when parked during the day.

We don’t have a ladder so the various mounts that attach to ladders or use the ladder to get on the roof didn’t work and the flagpoles mounts were a bit overkill (and $$).

I had noticed that the top hinge on the rear doors had a large gap in the open and closed position.

So, I made a mounting post for Starlink to hang off the promaster door. Made it in two parts so easy to store.  $40 and 4 hours of fiddling.

I dremeled the end of the pvc to make a notch for the cable and a square notch so the dish locks in place.

I used aluminum flat bar to make hooks that attach to the promaster door. The door has to be open to attach but can be closed once the pole is in place.

I used hockey tape around the aluminum hooks to avoid scratching the van.

Parts List ( ~ $40 )

  • One 10’ 1.25” sched 40 PVC
  • One male 1.25” pvc to threaded adapter
  • One female 1.25” pvc to threaded adapter
  • One 4’ 0.125” aluminum flat bar
  • Four #8-32x2.5” bolts with washers and nuts
  • Pvc cement
  • Roll of hockey tape
I dremeled one end with a notch for the cable and a catch for quick release  I used the threaded adapters to cut the pole in half for easier storage. I fashioned hooks out of the aluminum bar and wrapped them in hockey tape to prevent scratches.
